Purpose is something that gives us a direction in life.
It guides us towards our desired destination and gives us a sense of fulfillment.
It helps us make meaningful and impactful decisions and drives us to become better versions of ourselves.
Knowing our purpose can help us find more joy, satisfaction and meaning in life and can open the door to endless possibilities. When we have a purpose, we can face each new day with energy and enthusiasm, and strive to make the world a better place.
The Challenge
Many people struggle to determine what their purpose is. Where people do not understand the purpose of a thing the potential for abuse is feasible. For example, books are meant for reading but if they are used as a door stop then we have abused the purpose for which they are intended for use.
There is another set of people who may know their purpose but are not LIVING a purposeful life. They are not living it purposefully and with intention
Both reasons can lead to a person not living a fulfilled life for a variety of reasons.
Why people do not live a life of purpose
People may not live a life of purpose for a variety of reasons.
Some may not have a clear idea of what their purpose is, or may be unsure of how to pursue it.
Others may be stuck in a routine or in comfortable circumstances that make it difficult for them to take risks or step outside of their comfort zone.
Additionally, life may get in the way, with responsibilities, obligations, and distractions taking priority over personal fulfilment.
Fear of failure can be another factor, as taking action towards a life of purpose may require inner strength or difficult decisions that people are uncertain of or feel unprepared to make.
When you don’t live a purposeful life, you may feel lost, lonely, and unfulfilled. Without a clear purpose, you may find yourself struggling to stay motivated and make progress in your life. You may experience a sense of dissatisfaction with your daily routine and find it difficult to find joy and happiness in life. Additionally, you may find yourself in a state of apathy, feeling as though there is no hope for a better future.
How to live a life of purpose
1. Clarify your purpose. Take some time to reflect and ask yourself questions such as: What kind of life do I want to lead? What brings me joy? What do I want to be remembered for?
2. Live intentionally. Make decisions consciously and mindfully, by asking yourself: What is the most meaningful action I can take in this situation? How can I be of service and help this person or situation?
3. Take inspired action. Once you know your purpose, set actionable goals and take steps to manifest them.
4. Make time for reflection. Take time every day to reflect on your actions and honestly assess your progress. This can help you course correct and ensure you are staying true to your purpose.
5. Surround yourself with like-minded people. Surround yourself with people who share your values and can provide motivation and support.
