“If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.” Benjamin Franklin. It’s crucial to plan for success. A plan creates clarity. Without clarity, we just flow through the day and never really take the first step toward achieving our goals.
A plan creates a structure for the days and months ahead, but it’s also subject to evolution. New things always come into your life. Some aspects of your life will evolve and change, but you must always have some sort of roadmap for each day. Entrepreneurship is the process of setting up a business, from idea to realization. There are a lot of people who are not business founders but have other dreams and goals. This makes us all entrepreneurs of our days.
How to plan for success?
Three Feet from Gold by Sharon Lechter is a great book to read at this time of the year. In the book, Sharon puts her success formula in the equation: ((passion + talent) x association x action) + faith = success. Which brings up the question: What does success look like for you? How do you ensure that you’re wired to win?
As part of her podcast, “Unique Leaders Life,” Megan always asks her guests about their passion and their talent. She is fascinated by how these very accomplished leaders always answered differently. Their perceived talent was always different from their passion. So today, think about what your passion is and what your talent is. Megan’s passion has always been to create, and her talent is to actualize that. So as we are winding down at the end of 2022, think: What makes you wake up in the morning? What keeps you going? And what is your action plan?
The road to success can be daunting
Your biggest success in life is your faith. Faith can be a tremendous motivator every step of the way. The roadmap towards achieving your goals can be a challenging and daunting task, but your focus and clarity can help you take your business to the next level. Allow your passion to create it, enable your talent to visualize it, market it, and build it.
Sarah Blakely, the founder of Spanx, once said that you should “start small, dream big, and scale fast.” So, you must start small and break down your goal into small, manageable parts. That’s why you have to have clarity. If you are not clear on your “why,” why are you doing it all? As Napoleon Hill says in Think and Grow Rich, “Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” So you must see it, believe it in your heart, and then take action. As we draw closer to 2023, ask yourself, “What do I see and believe in my heart?” Then start acting on it.
Takeaway: plan for success
- Without a plan, you won’t have clarity on your vision. And without clarity, you can’t take the first step toward achieving it.
- We are not all business entrepreneurs, but in a sense, we are entrepreneurs in our own right.
- What is your passion, and what is your talent? These are two different things.
- All you need to do is start small and break down your goal into small, manageable, and actionable parts.
- See it, believe it in your heart, and then take action.
