Adversities are a part of life, and success results from knowing how to overcome fear and uncertainty. All of us have faced a scenario where our fears and insecurities affected our ability to take action and fulfill our goals. We need to learn to recognize that fear is a limiting factor that prevents us from pursuing our goals.

As Les Brown said, most people are not living their dreams because of fear. Fear is based on deceptive evidence that appears to be true. Remember that you have overcome so much already and that adversity is not new to you. However, what if you are not feeling strong or confident? What if you don’t have confidence in your capabilities and feel overwhelmed by fear?

For instance, Glenn recounted that he woke up more than an hour late on the very day of an important event. For him, sleeping in triggers a whole chain of effects. So how do we react when things don’t go according to plan? How do we react when we want to lose a few pounds and ultimately find out we are addicted to sugar? How do we react when we have a morning routine but oversleep?

Glenn advises us to look around for lessons that are already present. Everyone around us can teach us something about how to overcome fear. Be mindful, be present, and acknowledge each learning opportunity around you. It’s important to build a routine and be consistent about it. However, it is also important to forgive ourselves for occasionally erring and falling off the wagon, and starting afresh thereon.  

A great way to cope with your fears is to pretend to be brave and strong. So if you have fears in your life, just pretend to be brave. And maybe by pretending, you will gradually find the strength to do it.

You can have the best laid plans, but most likely, life is going to get in the way. When life gets in the way, you have two options: to retreat and go to a place of worry, or to pretend that this is exactly the way it was supposed to happen.
