How To Eliminate Self-Effacing Behavior

Stop the self-effacing behaviors and walk confidently in your journey. When you doubt yourself, you lose confidence. Most people only share the positives in life; however, it is the challenges that most people can relate to.

Self-effacing is when we downplay our abilities, achievements, and worth to appear humble and make others feel comfortable.

When we downplay ourselves, it can hold us back from achieving our goals. Set an intention of becoming who you were meant to be.

Be who and what you are meant to be.

Lean in and become clear, and know what you are doing. You are more capable than you may realize. When you take the time to reflect on your life, you become aware of what you are meant to do.

The only place people get stuck is in their mind.” People will try to talk you out of something. Be stubborn and unstoppable. Surround yourself with people who will lift you up. Find people who will call you out for self effacement.

Eliminate self-effacing behavior:

  1. Make sure you identify when you are self-effacing.
  2. Be more self-aware that you are downplaying your worth.
  3. Challenge yourself to stop negative self-talk.
  4. Practice self-compassion and treat yourself with kindness.
  5. Set goals that are big and exciting and work towards them. Anything worthwhile is all uphill.
  6. Take credit for your accomplishments, and it’s ok to be happy you achieved something.
  7. Seek out supportive relationships. Your environment is important
  8. If you struggle with self-esteem or are in a dark place, it’s ok to seek professional help.
  9. Learn to say no and set boundaries if it doesn’t align.
  10. Practice assertiveness. When you put yourself first, you are in the best position to help others.

The Takeaway:

When you stop self-effacing behavior, you build confidence in yourself. With confidence, you begin to stand out and become noticeable. Eliminating self-effacement is not denying the challenges of your story. In fact, you have to accept and embrace your challenges to share them. However, when you accept the challenges, you can also accept who you are now and eliminate negative self-talk.

Focus on your strengths and what you are good at because your confidence and self-esteem will grow. When you realize you can do anything, you will become unstoppable.
