When you begin with the end in mind, it helps you to channel your energy in the right direction, making achieving tremendous success easier.

4 Self Reflection Questions to Help You Keep the End Game in Mind and Achieve Your Dreams

When you begin with the end in mind, you get clarity, which inevitably makes you more productive. There are different standards of living for other people. Having no end goal puts you in competition with diverse individuals and sets you on a path of unhappiness. The end game that can be easily referred to helps you stay focused even when facing various daily demands on your time and energy.

It would help to ask critical, self reflection questions, such as ‘what do you want’ before embarking on different endeavors, whether it’s starting a business, getting into a romantic relationship, moving into a new city, or learning a new skill.

What do you want from that relationship, business, workout, or course?

We usually don’t take enough time to think about that question, ‘what do you want.’ It’s a hard exercise, but it’s important. Your answers should be just vague but tangible answers that practicable. With the end game in mind, how much money do you want?

Why do you want it?

Now that you’ve answered the ‘what do you want’ question, the next question is, why do you want it? Getting to know why you want something might even change what you want. Having to justify what you like about something is a validation of things we want. Thinking about why we want something, especially when we begin with the end in mind, helps us make better choices.

When do we want it?

Putting time into something helps make it real. When there’s no time limit to things, we tend to take it for granted and procrastinate, thinking there’s still time and we can do it some other day. Having a deadline for a task or goal helps us make time, even when busy, to concentrate on achieving it. With the end game in mind, your goal is as real as the time attached to it.

What do you need to do to make it happen?

After thinking about all the preceding self reflection questions: what do you want? Why do you want it? And when do you want it? And after writing down your answers, it’s time to think about the different decisions you need to make to achieve your dreams. Again, begin with the end in mind: What sacrifices do I need to make, what effort do I need to put into that relationship to make it work, etc.?

The importance of keeping the end game in mind

When you begin with the end in mind, you will end up planning and strategizing for the best path to your objectives which will make it all possible.

All too often, many people discover that they are pursuing other people’s ambitions without recognizing them, leaving them feeling unfulfilled. Practicing the concept of the end game helps prevent this from happening.

Ask yourself the self reflection questions, and then with the end game in mind, you will be able to define your winning formula and success factors, which puts you in competition with yourself alone. Competing with yourself alone helps you compare your daily efforts to past ones, thereby making it easier to make consistent improvements over time.
